One day browsing the web, I came across an interesting article that made me aware of how bad using normal deodorants can be for you. So I kept on searching and browsing about the ingredients normal deodorants use and what could possibly happen to you when using them on a daily basis, which is, I suppose, everyone’s case.
Since that day, I threw away immediately the deodorant I had at that moment, went straight to one of the healthy shops and got a deodorant made with natural oils and ingredients.
It’s been over a year I decided to make this change and I wish I knew this before, I also wish this kind of information would be available to everyone easily. So here I am, sharing with you 5 good reasons why you should love natural deodorants!
1. Natural deodorants are Aluminium-free!
That’s right! You should be aware that most comercial deodorants contain aluminium, which are there to temporarily block the sweat ducts and prevent you from perspiring. I understand sweating feels uncomfortable and no one likes that feeling, but if we let aluminium block these ducts constantly, the lymph nodes around the armpits can get clog up, leading to serious health issues.
2. They are also Paraben-free!
More and more products are stopping the use of Parabens because they have Estrogen like properties and are potentially linked to the development of breast cancer. I am not an expert, but if I can avoid some sort of chemicals into my system, especially my underarm and boob area, I am happy too.
3. Generally Made with Natural Fragrance
Natural deodorants contain natural oils which give them such a lovely low-key fragrance. Not like the scandalous and chemically smell comercial deodorants leave behind after you apply them.
In my case, I found that the deodorants containing coconut oil or the unscented ones work better than others in the hot days.
4. You will find a short list of ingredients on the label
The natural deodorants I have purchased to date, contain little amount of ingredients that are not scary-sound and you know them and that gives me some piece of mind.
5. Ok! Pricewise they are not the cheapest BUT…
Normally, natural deodorants or any organic/natural product tend to be more expensive than comercial items but look at it as an investment for your own health. At least that’s how I like to approach it, because at the end of the day I want to make a difference in the choices I make for myself.
The price range of a natural deodorant can be between €5 to €10 but you should check your local healthy shops and compare price for yourself. You can also take a little risk and DIY by mixing some baking soda and coconut oil. Let me know how it goes! 😉
