Rome is one of the most visited places in Europe and I’m sure you have been or will be there at some point in your life, to see everything this beautiful and historic city has to offer. But in this post, I want to share with you a list of places where you can enjoy a good bite. I will also write a separate post about the places you must visit!
During my recent trip to Rome, I’ve learned that if you see a waiter outside a restaurant looking for customers (tourist mostly), it means that they are not the best in town and I’m sure you would not find any locals inside, apart from the staff. Anyhow, I want to give you a short list of places where you can eat some of the best Panini, Pasta and of course, Ice Cream in this city.
When travelling, I love spending the whole day visiting around and taking as many photos as I can, so it’s crucial for me to find a good place where you can have a quick bite at lunch time, a good Coffee or Ice cream shop for the end of the afternoon, as well as an amazing place to have dinner. Rome is packed with restaurants everywhere, so the choice is hard; however thanks to technology and review apps, my friends and I narrowed it down to the best places to eat.
PANE E SALAME
Literally this place is always up to the roof of busy. The first day we tried to eat here (on a Saturday), there was a long queue outside waiting for a table. So I would recommend Pane & Salame on a week day if you want to eat inside.
Visiting this place was absolutely worth it and it’s only 3 minutes away from La Fontana Di Trevi! They have a great selection of Panini and Taglieri to share. The food was unbelievable delicious and the staff were super nice!
LOST FOOD FACTORY
I have to start by saying that the staff in this little Panini restaurant were so friendly and funny. Gladly, we discover this place only a few minutes away from The Pantheon and found space to sit inside after a long morning of walking around. I ordered the Maddalena panino (eggplant, tomato, pesto sauce, mozzarella, pecorino cheese) – I don’t know if it was the hunger but I devoured the panini quite fast and I am often a slow eater!
Visiting the Colosseum can be pretty amazing but at the same time exhausting. This small Street Food Gourmet restaurant is just at a walking distance from the Colosseum and is everything you need for lunch (great taste, great price).
I really loved the fact that they serve their delicious pasta in biodegradable plates and they use BIO products. The whole concept is just pretty good as well as their food. I ordered the artichoke alla romana and the risotto with truffle. SO GOOD!
If you are around, DEFINITELY visit Pasta Chef, it won’t disappoint you. We are still talking and raving about it! 🙂
If you plan to see the Opera in The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, this restaurant can come in handy for its location. Alessio is more or less a fancy restaurant and we were lucky to get in because we didn’t have a reservation. But I do have to admit the staff were not the most friendly ones, which I found it disappointing. On the other hand, the food was really good and tasty so we left quite happy in that regard. I had the courgette flowers (deep fried) and the gnocchi special. I was so happy with my choice!
The restaurant staff in Origano are very welcoming and the food mouth-watering. We had such a good time, ordered loads of food & wine and left a good tip 🙂 this probably says it all! haha The actually have lovely vegetarian dishes so I got the Caprese salad and the Caprese con Bufala campana all’olio di basilico (tomato, bufala mozzarella, oregano, basil flavored), the Rigatoni alla Norma (tomato, fried eggplant, salty ricotta cheese, basil, oregano) and the Tiramisu. I wanna go back!
DON NINO (ICE CREAM SHOP)
Wherever you go to Italy, it is a MUST to have as many ice creams as you want! In Rome, there are plenty of Ice cream shops but only some are really good. Don Nino happen to be one of them. Besides, the shop is absolutely cute and attractive to the eye. I highly recommend a visit not only to try their ice cream but also their delicious Italian pastries.
GELATERIA DEL TEATRO
Another great Ice cream shop is Gelateria del Teatro located 5 minutes away from the lovely Piazza Navona. Even though I love chocolate, when it comes to ice creams I really like the Pistachio one. So good!
If you have been to any of this places and/or recommend one please let me know 🙂 I would love to hear from you.
