Last Saturday my friends and I went for dinner to this small but lovely restaurant located in Dublin 4 called ‘Farmer Browns‘. One of my friends said that she has already been there for Brunch a long time ago and really liked it, but it was her first dinner experience – like me.
Once there – taking a look around the place and the pictures hanging from the walls – it is clear they have a lot of meat to offer in their menu (for meat lovers) and only a few choices for Vegetarians; however, for Pescatarians like me, I was more than happy with what they had in the menu.
Farmer Browns used to be a BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle/Booze) but we were told that they are not longer offering this service, so we kept our bottles away for another occasion.
Before ordering, one of the waitresses was writing the daily set menu behind the door and the dish I wanted was listed there, so for me that was perfect! But once I asked for it, they told me I couldn’t order it because it needed to be booked in advance. It honestly felt unpleasant but I decided to let it go.
So I went for their Parmesan & Truffle oil fries to share with my friend and for main I picked the Skillet of Atlantic Fish (Cod, Salmon, Skate, Mussels & Prawns in a smoked paprika white wine sauce, maris pipers, samphire and warm soda bread). I must say that both dishes were absolutely delicious! 😋
As for my friends, they all opted for burgers or tacos. They all looked happy and super full after devouring their dish, and the one who ordered the tacos gave a 10 out of 10. Except for one friend who had to wait for ages as they forgot her order. Once they brought it to the table, she had to returned her burger because it was way overcooked, but they got her a new one immediately and deducted it from the bill, gladly!
Overall, Farmer Browns was such a nice experience for me and my friends and I highly recommend it! Although, I only advise to avoid booking during the Christmas period as large groups tend to take over the place and it gets super loud if you’re planning a quiet dinner. But you gotta love the Christmas spirit!!! 😄
